Optimistically speaking
The non-conformist with the stubborn chin shakes off the feeling that something is wrong, something strange is happening as there is a gap when trying to remember what was immediately before entering the chamber. The non-conformist shrugs off the strange narcotic effect the House of Masks has on memory. The non-conformist is not troubled by existential worry of not making memories, this is a little like the Garden of Eden before the Apple, then Adam and Eve lived completely in the moment before they learned the knowledge. An optimist does not need the modifying effect of memory, an optimist will always treat every situation like it is the first time, for no matter how similar this may appear to that dreadful situation there are so many factors influencing the future that this, optimistically speaking, is like it were the first time. And the non-conformist chooses to be the ultimate optimist and treat this adventure like it were the first time.
