In this house of parties there must be a note of the effects of alcohol on the aged and ageing. In lore granny has a sherry in her hand joins in to the party game only after the sherry, so much so that we started the sherry tradition where we all drink that sweet medicinal gloop while deciding what game to play. Granny sips hers slowly and joins in after a minute. But I, a generation younger, struggle to keep up as nowadays alcohol of any kind knocks me out of the park and the next day boy do I feel the effect.
