When we look at the rainbow we see the whole spectrum of light from red to violet, in that moment of looking into the sky we don't just pick out our favourite colour and ignore the rest. So why is it when we think of the spectrum of emotions we pick our favourite and ignore the rest. We choose happiness as a goal so much so that we avoid sadness, or anger or any number of emotions we think of as failure. Surely all the emotions need to be felt and felt in respect to the other emotions.
