Peter heard a sigh. He started. Turned to the screen. They were nearly finished in the bathroom. He had to hurry. He turned on the griddle. Looked at the screen again. Vegetable soup with deconstructed bruschetta. He laid three settings at the breakfast bar. He decanted the soup into the serving bowl. He kept a portion in the pot in case John wanted it. If he had not eaten at work. He set out the Tomato. The rocket. The olive oil in a small bowl. A salt bowl. A pepper bowl. The griddle was warm. He placed the bread.
Naomi came in. She sat at the table. Diane came in. Dressed in an antique silk kimono.
Can you wear aprons please. I think we should always eat wearing aprons. (Diane)
Peter passed an apron to Naomi. He ladled out hte soup. Served the warm bread from the griddle. They ate in silence. Diane opened her Skroll. She checked messages while she ate. She wrote replies. She sighed.
Peter opened his Skroll to a numbers game. He did not seem to enjoy the game. A bit bored by it. He might have been playing it because he thought he should. So Diane did not feel watched. Or maybe he wanted to impress Naomi. Naomi watched him play. Something to do in the silence. Or maybe Peter was trying to give an impression to those who may be viewing the cameras in their kitchen. The watchers. Perhaps he was trying to confuse the algorithm by doing things he did not enjoy. It is foolish to think you can outsmart the machine.
