Peter stood looking out the kitchen window.
Hi. (Diane)
Peter spun round. Shocked. He stared at her for a moment.
That smells great. I would like to eat straight away. (Diane)
Peter turned up the heat under the pot. The water boiled again. He carefully slipped the egg into the pot.
Kitchen. Set timer for three minutes. (Peter)
Naomi is no longer part of our family. John said something about wandering about the stree barefoot. It is for her own good. (Diane)
Peter said nothing. He put bread in the toaster.
Can you bag up her things. I believe you have her Skroll. Can you reset if for the new au pair. (Diane)
The timer sounded. Peter scooped out an egg. He put it in the egg cup.
Sure. Will do. (Peter)
He tapped the egg shell. Chopped off the top. Dropped the bacon onto the plate.
The agency says it will probably take a week. They are worried we will complain. (Diane)
Peter cut the toast into strips. He poured the coffee. He place the breakfast on the table in front of Diane.

He turned to leave the room.

She waited for him to turn.
I am counting on you being strong. We are all sad that Naomi is no longer part of our family. I am counting on you to help the new au pair to fit in. You have to do better than you did this time. The new au pair will be called Naomi too. (Diane)
I will do better. (Peter)
The agency man came for her things that morning. Peter took a minute to put her things into her carry-all. Her iPass. Her change of clothes. Her shoes. So little.
The agency man did not thank him.
